What exactly is meant by the term “economic impact” as it pertains to real asset investing, and how is it measured? In this session, a panel of industry leaders discuss this often-misunderstood topic by addressing how the value of economic impact is quantified and how the ripple-effect can benefit multiple stakeholders. Panelists will also highlight how tracking and reporting on economic impact can add value to an investment portfolio and explore how responsible contractor policies can help drive impact.

Real Estate: State of the Emerging Manager Market 

An SEM Conference tradition, we begin with a data-filled, in-depth presentation on trends and activities in the real estate emerging manager market. The session highlights the strategies, manager types, and asset classes that have come to market, while also featuring the level of institutional appetite, trends in performance data, and the latest in fund terms. Additional topics this year include a discussion on the emergence of PropTech as well as a focus on GP stake acquisitions.

Historically, emerging manager programs have been set up predominantly to create a farm team of emerging talent for future large, direct commitments, as well as to create diversity in the investment management industry. In addition to the annual “state of the emerging manager market” update, this session will discuss the newest technology that could be implemented to further advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the emerging manager sector.
